Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 29 April 2026 · This is a living document. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of stingrays.lk, your enrolment in Stingrays Swim School programmes, and your interactions with us through any channel — including WhatsApp, email, telephone, or our official Meta pages (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp).
By using our website, booking a class, or messaging us, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
Stingrays Swim School is operated by Stingrays Sports (Pvt) Ltd, a private limited company registered in Sri Lanka. Our parent company is Stingrays Aquatic Ventures Pte. Ltd. (Singapore).
1. About these Terms
These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Stingrays Sports (Pvt) Ltd. They apply alongside our Privacy Policy, which forms part of the agreement and explains how we handle your personal data.
2. Our services
We provide professional swim coaching for children and adults at swimming pools across Sri Lanka. Programmes include learn-to-swim, stroke development, competitive squad training, and private lessons. The exact services available, schedules, and fees are listed on the relevant venue page on stingrays.lk and may change from time to time.
3. Bookings, fees, and admission
- Booking process: bookings are made via WhatsApp (074 331 1553), telephone (076 392 7676), email (info@stingrays.lk), or in person at the venue. A booking is confirmed once we have received the admission fee and the first month's fee.
- Admission fee: a one-time, non-refundable admission fee applies per swimmer (Rs. 2,000 for the first child / individual; Rs. 1,500 for a second child from the same family; Rs. 500 for an individual lesson). Admission fees secure your place in the programme.
- Monthly fees: fees vary by venue and are listed on each venue's page. Monthly fees cover four (4) weeks of coaching plus pool fees. Months that contain a fifth week of classes incur a separately listed extra-week fee.
- Free trials: we do not normally offer free trial classes. Free trials are offered only during specific promotional periods, which will be clearly communicated when active.
- Payment: fees are payable monthly in advance. Accepted payment methods are confirmed at booking.
- Late payment: if monthly fees are not received before the new month begins, we may suspend access to classes until payment is received.
4. Cancellations, refunds, and missed classes
- Withdrawal from programme: you may withdraw at any time by giving us at least 14 days' written notice via WhatsApp or email. Fees already paid for the current month are non-refundable, but unused future months will be refunded.
- Admission fee: non-refundable in any circumstance, in line with Section 3.
- Missed classes: we cannot refund or guarantee make-up classes for sessions a swimmer chooses to miss.
- Make-up classes for cancelled sessions: if a class is cancelled by us (e.g., due to weather, pool closure, or coach unavailability), we will offer a make-up session within the same or following month, where reasonably possible.
- Long absence: if a swimmer cannot attend for an extended period (e.g., illness, travel) of more than two consecutive weeks, please notify us — we may pause your enrolment by mutual agreement.
5. Parent and swimmer responsibilities
- Arrive at least 5 minutes before class. Late arrivals may not be admitted to the water if it disrupts the session safety briefing.
- Bring appropriate swimwear, a swim cap, and goggles. Some venues require this for hygiene and safety.
- For children: parents or guardians must remain at or near the venue during class for emergencies, unless other arrangements have been confirmed in writing.
- Treat coaches, venue staff, fellow swimmers, and other parents with respect. We reserve the right to terminate enrolment for behaviour that endangers safety or undermines the learning environment for others.
- Notify us in writing of any change to your contact details, your child's medical conditions, or other relevant information.
6. Health, safety, and medical information
- You are responsible for ensuring that the swimmer is medically fit to participate in swim coaching. If you have any concerns, please consult a doctor before enrolling.
- You must inform us, in writing, of any medical conditions, allergies, recent injuries, or other circumstances that affect the swimmer's safety in the water — including asthma, ear conditions, epilepsy, heart conditions, or anything else relevant.
- Our coaches are trained in first aid and water rescue. We carry appropriate insurance for our coaching activities. However, swimming carries inherent risks and we cannot guarantee against all injuries.
- In the event of a medical emergency, our coaches will administer immediate first aid and contact emergency services. We will contact the parent or guardian as soon as reasonably possible. You authorise us to take such reasonable emergency measures.
7. Photography and video
From time to time, we take photographs or videos at our classes, events, or galas. These may be used in:
- Our website, social media pages, marketing materials, and parent communications.
- Internal training and curriculum development.
We will not publish identifiable photographs or videos of any swimmer without explicit parental consent. We ask for this consent at the time of enrolment. You may withdraw consent at any time by writing to info@stingrays.lk, and we will remove the relevant material from our owned channels promptly.
If you do not wish to be photographed or videoed during a class, please inform the coach at the start of the session.
8. Website use
- You may use stingrays.lk for personal, non-commercial purposes, including reading information about our programmes and contacting us.
- You agree not to attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, scrape or copy substantial portions of our content, or interfere with the operation of the website.
- Any links from our website to third-party websites are provided as a convenience — we are not responsible for the content or practices of those third parties.
9. Intellectual property
All content on stingrays.lk — including text, images, video, the "Stingrays" name and logo, the Level 1–4 curriculum, and the design of the website — is owned by Stingrays Sports (Pvt) Ltd, our parent Stingrays Aquatic Ventures Pte. Ltd., or our licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.
10. Liability and disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We provide our services with reasonable care and skill, but we make no other warranty or representation. Information on stingrays.lk is provided "as is".
- We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages arising from use of our website or services.
- Our total liability to you in any matter is limited to the fees you have paid to us in the preceding 12 months.
- Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Sri Lankan law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
11. Termination of services
We may suspend or terminate your enrolment if:
- Fees are unpaid for more than 30 days after the due date.
- The swimmer or accompanying parent behaves in a way that endangers safety or substantially disrupts classes for others.
- You provide materially false information at enrolment.
Where reasonably possible, we will give written notice and an opportunity to remedy the issue before termination.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated via our website and, where appropriate, by direct message to enrolled parents. Continued use of our services after a change indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or our services will be resolved first by good-faith discussion. If unresolved, disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka.
