With a shared dream to make swimming accessible, safe, and fun for all, Stingrays was founded by two individuals who bring unmatched heart, experience, and vision to the sport.

Avantha Dias Weerasinha
Head Coach | Visionary | Swim Culture Pioneer
Avantha Dias Weerasinha is the heart and driving force behind Stingrays Swim School. A highly respected figure in Sri Lanka’s aquatic community, Avantha brings over a decade of coaching excellence, competitive swimming insight, and transformative leadership to the pool deck.
With a mission to raise the standard of swim coaching in the country, Avantha has guided hundreds of swimmers to national and international success while keeping the joy of swimming at the core of every session. Under his leadership, Stingrays has grown to become the largest swim school in Sri Lanka, coaching over 1,400 swimmers every week across multiple locations.
His passion extends far beyond medals. Avantha’s true vision is to reduce Sri Lanka’s drowning death rate significantly by ensuring that every child has access to quality swim lessons and water safety education. For him, swimming is more than a sport—it’s a lifesaving skill and a lifelong gift.

Working alongside Avantha is Dinethri Dias Weerasinha, the powerhouse behind Stingrays’ seamless operations, vibrant community, and growing national presence. With a background in business, operations, and youth development, Dinethri ensures that Stingrays delivers more than just swim lessons—we deliver an experience that families love and trust.
From managing multi-location scheduling and customer support to innovating new programs and driving strategic growth, Dinethri is the heartbeat of our everyday operations. Her warm, thoughtful approach has helped build a school that’s not just effective—but welcoming, inclusive, and joyful for every family.
She is also deeply committed to expanding access to swimming and water safety education in schools and underserved communities, helping to carry the Stingrays mission forward across the country.

Behind our growing impact is an incredible team of over 30 certified coaches stationed across the country—each one carefully trained to uphold our philosophy of fun, friendly, and safe learning. These passionate professionals bring energy, empathy, and expertise to every lesson, making our vision a reality in pool after pool, city after city.
Supporting them is a team of 20 dedicated admin and customer service staff, working tirelessly to provide an unmatched customer experience. Whether it’s your first inquiry or your tenth term with us, our team ensures smooth communication, clear processes, and a warm welcome every time you engage with Stingrays.
